Taking evidence-based approaches and using insights from behavioural sciences to make measurable/impactful changes in the lives of women, adolescent girls and boys. Nudging women, adolescent girls and boys to claim their rights to progress toward a gender-just world.

Despite India making rapid progress in the last two decades, significant challenges still remain to create a truly gender-just world. From participation in the labour force to freely occupying public space, without the concerns of safety, women still have a long way to go. Gender remains a critically important and largely ignored lens to view development issues. At Localism, we believe in creating a safe environment to discuss issues that are critical for the rights of women and girls.

As gender-based violence and discrimination is deep-rooted in localized cultural norms, Localism offers programmes that involve community mobilization and economic empowerment, paired with gender equality training. Interventions are designed in such a way that they break the vicious cycle of gender-based violence and discrimination. We work at the community-level and undertake research and advocacy, particularly on critical issues which need greater attention.

At Localism, we take evidence-based approaches to address the root causes of violence – to free communities from violence and to change adverse social norms. insights from behavioural sciences are used to make measurable/impactful changes in the lives of women, adolescent girls and boys.
